Oh yeah, just read in the New York Times magazine today that there will be a movie about the Carthaginian general Hannibal. It is going to star Vin Diesel. Most would probably cringe, but I kinda like him, especially from the movies Pitch Black and the Chronicles of Riddick. Not the most intellectual movies of all time, but I have a tendency towards the pulp entertainment that Hollywood produces, as I like to escape and not think too much when I am watching a movie most of the time...
A great book written about Hannibal a hundred years ago by Theodore Ayrault Dodge - called simply Hannibal... one of the best history books I have read because of his incredibly objective point of view on the conflict between Carthage and Rome.
